Leonardo Da Vinci Master of Water

Published on the occasion of the exhibition Leonardo da Vinci. Master of water, presented at the Clos Lucé, the artist’s last dwelling, this catalogue offers a fascinating immersion into Leonardo’s thoughts. It brings together autograph drawings, manuscripts, scientific studies, sketches of hydraulic machines, and works of art to show how water permeates his entire oeuvre, from painting to engineering. Dams, canals, flood-regulation systems, studies of currents and vortices testify to the striking modernity of his vision, in which observation of nature fuels technical innovation.
