Cummings' unnerving glimpses of women's slips writhing in midair echoes her concerns of encroaching threats to bodily autonomy. Linda Cummings created Slippages in the last vestiges of the millennium, using chance and a woman's slip tossed in defiance of gravity. Her analogue black-and-white photographs serve as documents of private performances representing cultural anxieties of the 1990s.
