Matt Mullican. Photographs 1971-2018

This publication brings together the entire photographic work of Matt Mullican from 1967 to 2018 and is produced on the occasion of his solo exhibition ‘The Feeling of Things’, held in 2018 at Pirelli HangarBicocca. The photographic medium, extensively employed by the artist, is investigated for the first time in this volume, through the collection of all analogue photographs from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s - including the first two examples taken at the age of fifteen and the complete series of Untitled (Dead Man and Doll) (1973-74) - up to the most recent digital shots and series. Also included are images made by That Person, Mullican's alter ego, and views of the exhibition at Pirelli HangarBicocca, exceptionally documented by the artist himself. The publication includes an extraordinary section of one thousand images - divided into five chapters corresponding to Matt Mullican's cosmology - accompanied by the artist's original annotations and short introductory texts.
