Premazzi. A Milanese Artist at the Court of the Tsars

This volume reconstructs for the first time, thanks to the scientific analysis of documents, letters and inventories, the artistic parabola of Luigi Premazzi (1814-1891), a painter from Lombardy who grew up in the extraordinary workshop of romantic Milan and lived in cosmopolitan St. Petersburg. During his long career, he produced urban views, landscapes and stunning watercolours of the interiors of the palaces of Russian aristocrats and the imperial residences of Tsars Nicholas I, Alexander II and Alexander III.
