Zhang Ruyi

With a preface by the curator Manuela Lietti, this publication pays homage to Zhang’s creative universe through the writings of three leading scholars—Karen Smith, Wu Mo, and Qiu Yun. Each writer focuses on different aspects of Zhang’s work. For example, the wide chronological perspective on Zhang’s overall trajectory in Smith’s essay, a focus on recurrent motifs and dichotomies suffusing the work in Wu’s article, and a detailed analysis of Zhang’s two-dimensional works systematically analysed by Qiu Yun.
